THEME OF ARTH-MANTHAN 2014 – The Economics Festival

Started in 2001 Arth-Manthan - The Economics Festival of Mumbai has become the largest festival of its kind in India!

The festival provides a platform for students to debate on current economic issues and think like global leaders. Above all, Arth-Manthan makes learning of economics fun! The theme for Arth-Manthan 2014 is TO ENCOURAGE YOUNG INDIA TO BRING THE ECONOMY BACK ON TRACK! And hence the slogan ‘Achhe Din Aayenge?’ We need young minds and innovative ideas to lead India back on the path to growth and welfare!

Key issues that will be discussed at Arth-Manthan 2014 are Environment Issues, Inflation ,Women’s Issues, International co-operation, Finance and Politics.

Arth-Manthan is a festival laced with fun, learning, prizes and numerous events!!!

 Maha Debate (22nd August, 11 am) For Degree college students only
The debate will have 2 rounds. In round one on 22nd August, you have to speak your heart out on any one of the four topics given below for 3 minutes. 10 best speakers – fiery, passionate and sincere – will qualify for the Maha-Debate. Here, they will be split into 2 teams for the final event, which will be held on 23rd of August. Through this debate, we urge our youth to take the lead, to step out of their comfort zone and clean the system.

3.   Ganges Cleaning—Is it feasible?

GLOBAL LEADERS MEET
CO-OPERATION AMONG SAARC COUNTRIES (22nd AUGUST, 1pm)
For Degree college students only
The participating teams will play the role of economic advisers of the various SAARC countries allotted to them in advance. At this year’s meet, the topic will be “Co-operation among the SAARC countries”.
The participating teams will play the role of economic advisors of various member countries allotted to them in advance. They have to discuss innovative strategies for development of their country in keeping with the objectives of SAARC. The initiative taken by our Prime minister in inviting the heads of SAARC countries for the swearing in ceremony and making the head office of SAARC in Delhi calls for some discussion on the future initiative member countries can take.

Well, you have to truly represent the country allotted to you; that could mean dressing up like them and speaking a bit of the native language too!

The Book Exhibition will include a wide range of books on Economics and Management.  Some of the most popular textbooks and reference books used in foreign universities will also be displayed.

Here’s your chance to make economics more fun... Prepare your own economics song and we’ll offer you the mike to sing out loud!!!
Songs on India’s Strong leader, Stable Rupee, inflation, on promises made by finance ministers, on demand and supply, diminishing marginal utility etc. Well of course you have the option to set tunes on latest Bollywood hits!
