The 13th Annual Economics Festival of Mumbai- Arthmanthan
Event Details
A festival based
only on economics... well that was unheard of in Mumbai campuses about thirteen
years ago.
Unlike other college
fests that offered a little bit of everything, as Organisers of Arth Manthan,
we decided to focus on enhancing students’ knowledge, interest and enthusiasm
towards economics by bringing the subject to life! That’s how Arth-Manthan was
born!
We launched
Arth-manthan The Economics Festival of Mumbai in 2001 to coincide with the 10th
anniversary of economic liberalisation. And from its inception, Arth Manthan
has campaigned vigorously for further opening up of the economy with the belief
that it would help India to finally achieving its full potential!

largest festival of its kind in India and has even attracted the attention of
international educationalists!

THEME OF ARTH-MANTHAN 2013 – The
Economics Festival
Started in 2001
Arth-Manthan - The Economics Festival of
Mumbai has become the largest festival of its kind in India!
The festival provides a platform for students to
debate on current economic issues and think like global leaders. Above all, Arth-Manthan
makes learning of economics
fun! The theme for Arth-Manthan 2013 is TO
ENCOURAGE YOUNG INDIA TO BRING THE ECONOMY BACK ON TRACK!
And hence the slogan “Bhaag India Bhaag”. The economy
braved the sovereign debt crisis only to be tripped by its own leadership and
poor economics. Once the darling of the global investors and part of the much touted
BRICS countries, today India lags behind in the race for economic dominance. Incompetent
leadership, poor economic policies, lack of reforms, lag in implementation and
rampant corruption has resulted in the downgrading in the status of India. The
exodus of foreign investment and the consequent downfall of the rupee has put
India in a worrying situation. We will be using this platform to address some
of the critical development challenges facing India at this juncture and to
urge the youth of India to come ahead and lift India out of this crisis. We urge
young India to actively participate in politics and governance, we need more
Durgas to follow their duties sincerely and stand up fearlessly to keep the
bureaucratic machinery working efficiently and we need young economists who
will lead India back on the path to growth and welfare!
Key issues that will be discussed
at Arth-Manthan 2013 are the leadership crisis, the falling value of the Rupee,
rising inflation, food security, loss of investor confidence and rampant
corruption and rising intolerance.
MISSION OF ARTH-MANTHAN
"To attract
and enhance students’ interest in and enthusiasm towards Economics by bringing
the subject to life."
